VEGAN Skincare Routine | OSEA Malibu & GIVEAWAY

Hey everyone! As the seasons are changing you may notice your skin needs a little extra loving. I’ve partnered up with my favorite skincare line, OSEA Malibu, to show you guys my vegan skincare routine. The environment, the integrity of where the ingredients come from, and the treatment of animals isn’t just important to me, but also to OSEA. How refreshing to have a family-run business which treats their customers the way they would treat their family through high quality, vegan, and gluten free products.

41I cleanse my face daily with the Ocean Cleanser. This cleanser is great for many reasons, but my favorites are that it has lime essential oil which makes it smell super yummy, the lactic acid which is derived from beets gently exfoliates the dead skin away, and smectite clay draws out impurities. Ocean Cleanser is also packed full of healing and hydrating ingredients such as jojoba seed oil and algae extract.

2After cleansing, it’s important to tone so your skin is rebalanced and gets additional vitamins. OSEA’s Sea Minerals is made up of exactly what it says – sea minerals! Dead sea salt, algae extract, and aloe leaf juice make this mist very effective in treating acne and sunburns.

3To finish up my quick and easy skincare regimen, I use the Atmosphere Protection Cream. The key to this light moisturizer is macadamia seed oil which is very similar to the natural sebum created by your skin. This creates a barrier to protect the skin from the outside elements, which can cause damage, such as sunburns or breakouts. Avocado oil and algae extract are used to hydrate the skin without clogging it.

img_0123img_0182These simple products which are full of rich ingredients are perfect for my skin! Each product embodies the key to the environments success- Ocean, Sun, Earth, and Atmosphere. Pure and simple ingredients are the key to healthy skin. My favorite ingredient which is seen throughout the OSEA line is algae extract and seaweed. The founders of OSEA have partnered with a family in Patagonia to harvest certified organic seaweed which treats all skin types in various way.

Be sure to check out OSEA Malibu online & on INSTAGRAM.

I will be doing a little giveaway for a lucky winner to try a couple samples of OSEA products so be sure to follow me on INSTAGRAM to enter!!

Feed your skin and enjoy the beginning of fall!

MASSACHUSETTS – #CoastTheEastCoast

Hey there!! Happy Friday! Can you believe August is almost over? I’m feeling bittersweet about it because I’m eager for fall but trying to soak up all the summer sun because I know in a few months, Maine will be blanketed in snow. Erica and I are enjoying these last few sunny days exploring the East Coast. This week we are showing you our favorite spots in Massachusetts! Check out Erica’s blog HERE!!

Massachusetts has SO much to offer. My all time favorite place to explore there is Boston. There are so many places, big and little in Boston. I love going to the North End. My friend Haley and I explored Boston this week. CLICK HERE to check out my VLOG from that day! (:

IMG_9720 IMG_9738IMG_9741First, we got on a Downeaster train to get to Boston. This is super convenient when traveling around New England. We got right into North Station and took an Uber to the North End. We could’ve totally walked but Haley had a tattoo appointment to get to. After that, we grabbed yummy lunch at Pizzeria Regina. Although this isn’t 100% authentic Italian (sorry living there has kind of jaded me) the pizza is still SO good. It’s all house made, fresh to order, and baked right in a brick oven the way real Italians do.

IMG_9747For dessert, we headed to Mike’s Pastries. I’ve been eating a plant based diet and was psyched to realize marzipan was vegan! I couldn’t leave without buying a classic chocolate chip cannoli for Bill. The guy working behind the counter said that Mike’s sells 25,000 pastries a week!!! That’s nuts. They are all to die for and you can’t go wrong with whatever it is you choose.

If you’re looking for some serious shopping you’ve gotta hop on the T and get off at Arlington or Copley and shop along Newbury Street. The stores here range from Chanel to H&M to local boutiques. There’s something for everyone here which is great!

For those who don’t know, I went to school just outside Boston to study esthetics. Living in the suburbs around Boston gave me some insight into some cool little spots. In Winchester, I loved going to Revolve which is an awesome consignment shop which had great name brand clothes which are in really great condition. In the next town over, Woburn, there are an overwhelming amount of yummy places to eat. My absolute favorite was Gene’s Chinese Flatbread Cafe. This is an authentic pulled noodle bar where you can watch the staff throw these long strings of noodles in the air to stretch them out making them the yummiest most perfect texture. I also loved Tudo Na Brasa which at lunch time offers buffet style Brazilian food and delicious chocolate balls for dessert. Lastly, my dad SWEARS Maki Maki is the best sushi restaurant he’s been to in his entire life. I must agree, it is very delicious.

IMG_1337When avoiding the hustle and bustle of the city there are so many beaches to enjoy. Nantucket, Cape Cod (Cuttyhunk is my fave!), and Martha’s Vineyard are all hot spots to go to in the summer. For my birthday trip, we ventured out of these major touristy places and went to Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. The sand was soft and the water was so clear. I would highly recommend it!

What are your favorite spots in Mass?? Check back next week for Erica and I’s final stop of #CoastTheEastCoast in my home state of Maine!

RHODE ISLAND – #CoastTheEastCoast

Welcome back to #CoastTheEastCoast with me and Erica Aube! This week we are exploring the beaches and cities of Rhode Island! This state is truly beautiful and has so much to offer. Rhode Island is little but definitely mighty when it comes to things to do!

Here are my favorite spots to visit-

Providence

In Providence, a must-see is Federal Hill. This is the “Little Italy” of Rhode Island. As someone who has literally lived in Italy I can attest to this. You see little old men sitting at cafes speaking Italian and playing Scopa. If you’ve lived in Italy you know what this is (; My favorite part of Federal Hill is the food. You NEED to go to Venda Ravioli. They make delicious and authentic fresh pasta and have an Italian grocery. This place is seriously a little slice of Italy! I can’t come to Rhode Island and not stop here to get some yummy pasta.

When in Providence Water Fire is a favorite by both the locals and tourists. I went to a full basin lighting and this experience was truly magical. The entire city of Providence is packed while people line the basin to listen to music and watch the theatrical lighting of these huge fire pits which are in the water. This is something that I think everyone needs to see at least once in their life. I can’t find words to truly describe this experience other than magical!

NewPort

Newport is a very unique place. This touristy town grows immensely in population in the summer months. Newport draws people for it’s beautiful beaches, sailing, and gorgeous architecture. Home of Salve Regina University, the Vanderbilt house, and former military buildings turned museums there is something for everyone in Newport.

Block Island

283745_10150989549174218_1448216403_n 527956_10150989540454218_203823102_nThis gorgeous island is definitely worth the ferry ride. Block Island has the most gorgeous blue water I’ve seen in New England. When in Block Island you have the option of relaxing on Mansion Beach, seeing the gorgeous views at Mohegan Bluffs, or exploring one of the many lighthouses. My favorite way to explore BIRI is on a moped. There are several spots downtown where you can rent a moped for a few hours and ride around the island. Block Island is the most perfect weekend getaway! There’s no better way to relax than watching one of their scenic sunsets over the gorgeous clear blue water.

Del’s Lemonade

Last but not least, Del’s Lemonade is a Rhode Island classic. You can find this in local stores, or sold out of carts on the side of busy streets. Del’s serves up yummy lemonade and frozen lemonade. You can’t leave Rhode Island without sipping on some Del’s!

Don’t forget to check out out Erica’s post to see her Rhode Island picks! See you next week up in Massachusetts! (:

Puff’s Puppy Favorites

Hey everyone!! Sorry about my quick blogging hiatus. After a  busy few weeks of travel, work, life changes, and computer difficulties I am back and better than ever!! While away, I welcomed home a new member of my little family, Puff. She is a two year old black pug with a HUGE personality! I vlogged my road trip going down to Maryland to get her and you can watch that HERE (: After spending several weeks together we have both found some of our puppy favorites. For this weeks blogpost Puff and I are partnering up with Mariner Lines. They are a local company based in Portland, Maine which makes collars and leashes out of rigging line which are perfect for your nautical pup! Be sure to check out their WEBSITE and their INSTAGRAM to get your pup well equipped and looking good for summertime!

IMG_7150Puff’s first favorite are definitely Charlee Bears. These are an awesome little treat because they are natural, American made, and only 3 calories a treat. They look like Oyster crackers making them the perfect size to shove a few in your pocket when out on adventures, or store in a mason jar at home to keep your pup from breaking into them. I buy mine at Trader Joes.

IMG_7147I love Puff’s kisses, but sometimes her breath can get a little stinky after meal times. To keep her breath fresh she loves munching on Greenies. These are a great treat which also clean their teeth! For a natural breath freshener I also feed her fresh parsley, or use a finger tooth brush to scrub her little choppers.

IMG_7151Portable bowls are a necessity if you and your pup love adventures. I got this one at Petco and it’s collapsible making it very portable, and has a karabiner so it can attach to your Mariner Lines leash easily. With a pug who gets hot easily having water everywhere we go is super important!

26900694881_b6c9b0669c_c 26694920220_e8e63a99e5_cLastly, this Mariner Lines leash is a must. If Puff didn’t have a chubby little pug neck I would also get a matching collar because they are so cute! They come in a variety of colors and add that pop of east coast class and summer vibes to you and your pup. Puff absolutely loves sauntering around the beach in her Mariner Lines leash. I joke that it gives her so much confidence because she tries to take it from me and walk herself! Not to mention, they donate a portion of their proceeds to local rescue groups. What a great company to support! 26363919313_86a937dfb4_c 26900508781_d3489187c8_c 26934888276_4ca9127449_c 26968612635_da2a421584_c 26935043106_4a90818cbe_c 26969001545_6ac9e6630d_c 26935474156_a934c8cb56_c image1

Thanks for reading and be sure to check out Mariner Lines online and check back next week for more posts!

What’s in My Travel Bag + Tips

It’s Spring break season and it’s time to soak in some much needed sun!! Whether you’re headed somewhere warm or just scrolling through Instagram pretending you’re also on the beach under palm trees I have some good travel tips and I’m showing you a sneak peak of what’s in my travel bag! Be sure to head over to Erica’s Blog to see what her travel essentials & tips are! (:12038032_10153576151726772_6637376080719941049_n

Here’s my biggest tip and will start the breakdown of what I bring in my travel bags. DON’T CHECK YOUR LUGGAGE!!!!! The last thing you want is to get to your vacation spot and only have your sweaty plane clothes and one pair of underwear. My whole family of 5 have flown to Italy for the entire summer with JUST carry-ons my whole life. A tip and trick for not checking bags is that most airlines allow you to bring one “personal” bag along with one “carry on”. AKA one big purse or backpack AND a duffle or small rolling bag. Be sure to check with your airline for specifics. So let’s get into it and see what I always bring in my personal bag that goes under the seat.IMG_7838I like bringing a backpack or my giant SeaBag because they can fit SO much. Maximize the space you are given. If you can pull off a giant tote as a “purse” do it! In my backpack I always bring headphones, a book, Emergen-C, Evian spray, a sheet mask, and an empty water bottle. I also always have a change of clothes in this bag that I can grab at any minute. This is important in case you’re sitting next to a vomiting baby, or if you’re like me and coming from a colder climate and landing somewhere warm and will need to trade out your sweatpants for a sun dress. You might be questioning the sheet mask and Evian spray but just trust me on this. Your skin will thank you later. The air on planes is so dry. Throw on a sheet mask and close your eyes pretending you’re in first class. If you’re too embarrassed to look like a crazy person on your flight this Evian spray is really hydrating and will make you feel refreshed after a long day of traveling as well. Now for the Emergen-C…. the amount of times I hear coughing and sneezing and people bringing their winter colds on spring break with them is gross. Don’t let yourself get sick just before the fun gets started! Lastly, an empty water bottle. This is a key travel essential. We all know we can’t bring liquids through security, but don’t leave the water bottle behind. Once you get through security there are tons of water fountains where you can fill up for free. Don’t be that fool who pays $4 for a bottle of water in the airport!IMG_7841I always keep my makeup bag in my backpack so I can freshen up at any time. I like to wear minimal makeup when on vacation and really only put it on for a nice dinner. Here’s what I typically bring: Tartelette pallet, Stila eyeshadow trio, Stila mascara, Smashbox brow gel, Jane Iredale powder, Lorac lipstick & gloss.

Now for my duffle bag. I’m the kind of girl that likes to dress for the occasion, even on vacation. If I’m going somewhere that’s laid back, I’ll bring a few pairs of shorts and some sun dresses. If I’m going on vacation where I know I’ll need to be dressed more, I’ll pack fancier dresses and more modest bathing suits. Here is just a glimpse of what I might pack for a little in between.IMG_7828 IMG_7830 IMG_7833I like bringing a pair of jeans regardless of how tropical my vacation locations are. Night time always can get a little chilly so it’s nice to have a pair of jeans and a loose crotched sweater. I LIVE in sundresses when it’s warm and I adore this rosey pink one from Charlotte Russe. I of course bring sandals and flip flops, but my go-to close toed shoes are Sperry’s. They are really comfy to wear when traveling and also on days when your excursions may take you beyond the beach. Bathing suits. You can never ever bring enough bathing suits on spring break. There’s no worse feeling than having to put on a wet bathing suit and head back down to the beach. Last but not least, my Always Piper linen throw. You can buy them HERE. This is perfect for adding a pop of color and cozy blanket to your couch. However, it’s also great for bringing to the beach. It is super lightweight and easy to packaway. I love it because it doesn’t throw sand everywhere like the way a beach towel does when shaking it off at the end of a long day. It also dries super quickly because it’s linen so you aren’t left with a soggy towel when going back and forth from sun bathing to swimming.

Where are you headed for spring break?! Travel safe and I hope these tips and packing guide helped you! (:

Spring Cleaning – Mind Body & Soul

With the clocks springing forward this weekend what better time to discuss some spring cleaning?! Typically, spring cleaning entails going through your old clothes, cleaning the grime from behind the refrigerator, and replacing your holiday wreath with some fresh flowers. Remember those resolutions we all set a couple months back? Let’s revisit those (:

Remember when we all said we would eat healthy, be active, and exercise every single day of 2016?! Well . . . We don’t need to go quite that far. However, I do think it is a good idea to go back to those goals and touch on them at this time. I think spring cleaning is about SO much more than just junking your old winter things and organizing your vanity. Spring is a rebirth. How beautiful to be given this time to grow and blossom. Grow your mind, body, and soul. Revisit those goals of personal growth.

With this rebirth of the seasons I am focusing on bettering myself and being aware and appreciative of my surroundings. I strive to cleanse my body. I have started doing this by eating better. It’s amazing the difference your body feels when you eat wholesome and healthy foods. I am also exercising more! I have been so terrible and getting active and staying fit over the past couple of years. But, that’s changed! Over thre past month I have been working out more and more. I enjoy going to the gym and I love taking yoga classes. I’ve even been considering taking a course the become a certifified yoga instructor I love it so much. Exercising is one of those things that once you get in the swing of things you fall in love with it and want to keep going. Get motivitsted and get going!

This ties into my next “cleansing” of this spring. My mind. Exercising really helps clear my mind and keep me focused on just what I’m doing in that moment. Along with that I have been taking every opportunity I have to go on walks. With the temperatures getting up there being outside has been amazing recently! I took my dog for a long walk along the ocean and it couldn’t have been a more perfect afternoon. It allowed me to get outside, explore a place I had never been, and laugh endlessly while my white dog rolled in the muddy trail along the beach.

This spring I challenge you to revisit your goals for the year, get outside, and cleanse your mind, body, and soul. Don’t forget to clean your house thought, because that is a great place to start! Happy spring! Don’t let the clocks springing forward Sunday morning set you back! (:

Cozy Winter Night

Mid February is still full blown winter up here in Maine. Luckily, it’s been a pretty mild winter – only a couple big snow storms so far… But it’s not over yet! We still have a month or so more of this bitter cold and snow days. What better way to spend a cold Saturday or a snowy day off of work & school than in your pajamas with cozy treats?!

I started with a yummy Nutella crockpot hot chocolate. This is so simple and yummy. The aroma fills your kitchen adding to the cozy vibe of winter. I used my mini crockpot to make the perfect size for a mug full. Here’s what I used:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tablespoon of sugarIMG_7086 IMG_7108 IMG_7097
Let that cook for about 2 hours on low, or until heated through, and pop in an ADORABLE mug such as mine from E & H Creates. They sell the cutest mugs and stationary on their Etsy shop. You can also check out their Instagram HERE (:
While that’s heating I like to throw on a face mask. My favorite are sheet masks from Asian (specifically Korean ones!!) beauty stores. These are perfect for a cozy pamper day at home. Yes, I did indeed make my entire family put on animal themed face masks. I don’t think they totally hated it though :pIMG_6377
Right before my hot coco is done I like to whip up a quick treat to enjoy while I get cozy on the couch and catch up on Netflix and YouTube {here’s my channel if you wanna check it out (: } To stick with my homemade chocolate treats theme I made lava cake. I have been absolutely obsessed with lava cake recently. The recipe I used I found on Buzzfeed and is seriously so simple it blows my mind. This recipe makes the perfect amount for two to share while snuggled up on a cozy winter night. I shared with my sister who is also a lava cake queen and she said it was the best she’s ever had, so you know it’s amazing. Here’s what I used:
  • 1/2 cup semisweet or dark baking chocolate (I used a combo)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature (plus a bit extra to grease your baking ramekins)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (plus a bit extra to dust over greased ramekins)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (not required but I always add it)IMG_7033 IMG_7039IMG_7034 IMG_7078
To see the full baking directions check out the BuzzFeed post HERE.
No cozy winter night at home is complete without a onesie, a comfy blanket, a good show, and good company. Get cozy and enjoy the rest of these winter weeks before spring hits and we break out the sandals and pastels! (:

Whole Body Wellness

Happy Friday! To wrap up Erica and I’s Fitness Friday series I am going to be talking about whole body wellness. Be sure to check out Erica’s Blog to see some yummy pre and post workout snacks to fuel your body with goodness while staying fit!

On a fitness journey it can be easy to slip into a state of mind which is focused on the wrong things. It is important to remind yourself that numbers and sizes don’t matter. Whole body wellness matters. This means getting active, exercising, staying fit, eating healthy foods, but also your state of mind. Here are some things I do in order to keep my head clear and be mindful.

Reading is something I didn’t start really enjoying until I started doing it for myself, rather than for a school assignment. I have found reading to be something that refreshes my soul and spirit and allows me to relax. My favorite author is Thich Nhat Hanh and his books are amazing especially in regards to spiritual wellness and mindfulness. I highly recommend all of his books.

Coloring is something I did as a child, but stopped. Recently I’ve been loving adult coloring books full of peaceful scenes and mandalas that let your creativity flow and make you focus just on the task of coloring, not all of life’s worries. Not only are adult coloring books super trendy right now, but they are also scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety. Definitely a win for whole body wellness!

Exercise. This is something many people just see as a physical benefit. Although exercising is very important for you physical wellness, it is also crucial in your mental health as well. So get moving!

Take time to listen to the ocean and watch the sun set. With the hustle and bustle of life it can be difficult to take time to be mindful and enjoy the simple things the world has to offer. One of the most therapeutic things for me is to just be at the ocean. Hearing the waves and watching the natural beauty of the ocean always relaxes me and brings me joy. The only thing that can make the ocean any better is watching a sunset over the beach. There are no words for a beautiful sunset over the ocean in Maine. I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful state!

Lastly, put your phone down and go for a walk in the woods! (Preferably not sketchy woods haha) it is so amazing to be out in nature without the distractions of technology. It isn’t necessary to hike a huge mountain to get in touch with nature. Just get outside and walk. This is good exercise and also great for clearing your head, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of this world.

Different things work for everybody, but these are some of my favorites. It’s important to find what works for you and to remember during your fitness journey to take time to take care of your whole body! Be sure to see what goodies Erica is cooking up! Subscribe, share, and check out all of our social media links to stay up to date! I can’t believe this is the last post of January! See you all next month (;

Fitness Style | Fitness Friday

Happy Friday!! (: you made it to the weekend! Let’s celebrate by talking Fitness Style with my friend Erica! One of my biggest motivators to workout is to have new workout clothes that are super comfy and make me feel good and confident. Here are my two go-to outfits recently.

I have been absolutely loving this sweatpants / sports bra combo. I love really sweating when I workout which is why I like wearing sweatpants when I’m exercising, but I love being in a sorts bra because it doesn’t feel constricting and helps keep me cool. Here, I paired my black Calvin Klein sports bra with a pair of color blocked sweatpants from Forever 21. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my LuluLemon workout clothes as you’ll see in my next outfit, but it’s definitely not necessary to spend an arm and a leg on workout clothes! Some of my favorite places to get inexpensive workout clothes have been Forever21 and Old Navy. The quality is really good especially considering the price!

When I’d rather do a more relaxing workout like yoga I prefer to wear more fitted exercise clothes. I love mixing and matching leggings with workout tops whether they are crazy patterned or simple! This top and bottom combo is from LuluLemon and it’s been one of my faves for yoga recently!

Most importantly, wear what is comfortable to you and what makes you feel confident! When you aren’t concerned about adjusting your bra straps or hiking up your pants you will be able to stay focused on your workout. Not to mention, you will feel amazing after you exercise AND wearing clothes that compliment your body! Stay healthy and stay moving! See you next Friday and be sure to check out Erica’s blog to see her fitness style!! (:

My Fitness Routine | Fitness Friday

Welcome back to Fitness Friday with me and Erica Aube! This week we will be showing you guys our fitness routines! After getting motivated last week, now its time to get moving.

First and foremost . . . Find out what works for you!! I met with a personal trainer for the first time ever last month and he really started with the basics and broke things down for me. First we eliminated exercises that I DON’T like. For example, running on the treadmill for an hour. While it’s a great warm up, it’s not the best way for me to get cardio in because I get bored easily. He simple said “so don’t run on the treadmill for an hour”. The first way to get yourself motivated to actually exercise is to do workouts that you like!! My go-to is typically yoga. But, when I’m really feeling ambitious I decide to hit the gym and do some circuit training. This is great for me because I can’t get bored. By doing multiple exercises for a short period of time, but repeating them in a circuit I can get my heart rate up, exercise many different parts of my body, and stay motivated and not bored!

Fitness Routine PIc

First, I start out with a nice light warm up to get my heart rate up and my muscles warm. I typically do 5-15 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical (NOT an hour!! phew…)

Fit rout shoes fit rout lunge Flex fit rout Fit routOnce I’m all warmed up, I begin my circuits. I switch these up each time I workout. It’s good to have a circuit that includes exercises which workout all parts of the body. I try to focus on three circuits of three exercises each. One circuit focusing on cardio, one on lower body, and one on upper body. Pictured are an example of each.

After my workout is complete I ALWAYS end with stretching. It is very important to stretch out once you are done to keep from getting an injury. This will also help people like me who are getting back in the swing of working out from feeling too sore the next couple of days.

It is important to get moving, no matter what way. If you love dancing, skating, jumping on a trampoline, anything at all DO IT! Find what you love and do it, because that is the best way to stay motivated to get fit. I am by no means a professional or a workout guru – just a novice girl trying to get fit. If you want to see a more in depth workout routine and how I do my circuits check out my YouTube channel HERE and my video below!

Be sure to head over to Erica’s blog to check out her workout routine!! Happy January, stay motivated, get moving, and continue working towards a fit and healthy lifestyle with us next Friday (:
