CONNECTICUT – #CoastTheEastCoast

HEY EVERYONE! Happy August! This month Erica Aube and I are coasting up the East coast. Join us every Friday from Connecticut to Maine to see our favorite eats and adventures in each state! We are starting down in Erica’s home state of Connecticut. Ironically, this is also kind of my home state. I’m torn between being a Maine girl and a Connecticut girl. Having spent half my life in each state, I guess that makes me both? This weeks post will be kind of a throw back for me as I talk about all of my favorite things I used to do as a kid growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Old Greenwich is a neat area in Connecticut. With lots of little shops and restaurants lining each side of the street, it can be quite a fun little area to walk around. One of my all time favorite places to stop in here is Darlene’s Heavenly Desires. This candy shop used to be just a walk away from my childhood home and boy did I love stopping in to fill a bag with a disgusting amount of candy. I would always try convincing my parents I was mature and LOVED the chocolate dipped orange peels. They grew on me and I love them to this day.

Along the coast, just a short ways out of New York City, you’d never guess you would find such a nice beach and walking area. Tod’s Point Park has great paths for exploring, picnic tables for lunch, and sandy beaches for miles which allow for fun activities like swimming, sailing, and kayaking. Not to mention, the gorgeous sunsets at the end of a hot summer day!

For a big day of exploring Connecticut you have to fuel up with a good breakfast, and pack a yummy lunch. You can’t go without stopping at Rinaldi’s Country Deli in Cos Cob. This truly screams childhood for me. After begging my dad to bring me along to the Greenwich Town Dump so we could sort our trash and maybe snag a book at the book exchange, we would top off the perfect Saturday morning with an egg and cheese on a roll. They manage to make this perfectly EVERY SINGLE TIME! Also, don’t leave without grabbing lunch. The turkey sandwich on a sub is delicious and they don’t skimp out on the meat.

Where are your favorite places to go in Connecticut?! I must say, having grown up for some time down there I need to go back and explore more. The state is so big and has so much to offer! Check out what Erica’s go-to places are HERE. Don’t forget to check us out on Instagram to see our daily adventures! Check back next week to see our must see places in Rhode Island!
