My Fitness Routine | Fitness Friday

Welcome back to Fitness Friday with me and Erica Aube! This week we will be showing you guys our fitness routines! After getting motivated last week, now its time to get moving.

First and foremost . . . Find out what works for you!! I met with a personal trainer for the first time ever last month and he really started with the basics and broke things down for me. First we eliminated exercises that I DON’T like. For example, running on the treadmill for an hour. While it’s a great warm up, it’s not the best way for me to get cardio in because I get bored easily. He simple said “so don’t run on the treadmill for an hour”. The first way to get yourself motivated to actually exercise is to do workouts that you like!! My go-to is typically yoga. But, when I’m really feeling ambitious I decide to hit the gym and do some circuit training. This is great for me because I can’t get bored. By doing multiple exercises for a short period of time, but repeating them in a circuit I can get my heart rate up, exercise many different parts of my body, and stay motivated and not bored!

First, I start out with a nice light warm up to get my heart rate up and my muscles warm. I typically do 5-15 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical (NOT an hour!! phew…)

Fit rout shoes fit rout lunge Flex fit rout Fit routOnce I’m all warmed up, I begin my circuits. I switch these up each time I workout. It’s good to have a circuit that includes exercises which workout all parts of the body. I try to focus on three circuits of three exercises each. One circuit focusing on cardio, one on lower body, and one on upper body. Pictured are an example of each.

After my workout is complete I ALWAYS end with stretching. It is very important to stretch out once you are done to keep from getting an injury. This will also help people like me who are getting back in the swing of working out from feeling too sore the next couple of days.

It is important to get moving, no matter what way. If you love dancing, skating, jumping on a trampoline, anything at all DO IT! Find what you love and do it, because that is the best way to stay motivated to get fit. I am by no means a professional or a workout guru – just a novice girl trying to get fit.
